‘Stephen Rapid by Stephen Averill’ - Back in the early days, we were our own photographer and the tripod got a lot of use. One of these shots was used for an article in Melody Maker in 1977, on punk and music in Ireland, with some surprisingly sage words from Mr Bob Geldof as well as Jude Carr and myself. Note the ‘smart casual’ attire I had created.. .
The clipping at the end shows how far we had come since 1971 with Zeppelin and hard rock being considered passé.
